About Dragonfly Thinking
Dragonfly combines domain expertise, structured analytical methodology, and AI-native workflows to help organisations make better decisions under uncertainty.
Dragonfly Thinking started with a friendship and a shared frustration. Anthea Roberts and Miranda Forsyth — both interdisciplinary academics — kept watching complex problems get reduced to siloed analysis and polarised debates. In geoeconomics, Anthea saw this in the tensions between economic and security framing. In the Pacific, Miranda saw this in simplified explanations about what causes violence.
They knew the best thinking happened when you held multiple perspectives in tension and considered the systemic interaction of multiple drivers. Anthea had spent a career studying how people see the same problems through different lenses. Miranda has focused on how different elements interacted to create complex effects. When generative AI arrived, they saw an opportunity to make multi-perspective analysis and systems analysis practical at scale, not just an academic ideal.
Dragonfly won Australia's inaugural AI Sprint in 2024. Since then, the team has grown to include Sue Brake as Chair, bringing three decades of institutional investment experience and pioneering work on the Total Portfolio Approach. They are joined by an interdisciplinary team of designers and AI-native practitioners, creating a new type of company for a new age of intelligence.
